Soa Aids Nederland helps the public and professionals prevent, detect and treat HIV and other STIs. Together with our (medical) experts, we offer reliable, tailor-made information. This includes websites, guidelines and training courses for healthcare professionals and teaching materials for educational purposes.
Soa Aids Nederland is part of the Aidsfonds – Soa Aids Nederland foundation. Every year, we receive a government subsidy from the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM).
What we do
Every year, more than 200,000 Dutch people get an STI and there are hundreds of new HIV infections. Many people find it difficult to go to a doctor or are not aware of the fact that they have an STI. Even GPs do not always know how to recognise an STI.
Soa Aids Nederland provides support and information to the public and professionals so that we can reduce the number of HIV infections and other STIs in the Netherlands. We bring together knowledge, research, policy, lobbying and practical experience. In addition, we focus our work primarily on the 6 STIs that are most prevalent:
Chlamydia
Hepatitis B and C
HIV
HPV
Gonorrhoea
Syphilis
