Healthy Young People (HYP) Southwark is a health and wellbeing service for young people (under 25s) in Southwark provided by Brook and Change, Grow, Live (CGL). The partnership provides expertise in delivering the best sexual health and substance misuse service for young people.
HYP Southwark brings together a skilled and experienced team from both Brook and CGL. Our front line team includes reception workers, clinical education and wellbeing specialists, nurses and young people’s resilience workers. All staff are trained to support young people with their general health and wellbeing in addition to supporting them with their sexual health or around their use of drugs and alcohol.
What does the service include?
HYP Southwark provides advice and support around sexual health, drugs and alcohol and general health and wellbeing. The service also provides emergency and ongoing contraception, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), condom c-card scheme support and treatment for drugs and alcohol misuse and wellbeing support.
Types of STIs
There are many different types of STIs that can be passed on during unprotected sex. Click on each STI to find out more on the Brook website:

- Gonorrhoea
- Genital herpes
- Genital warts
- Pubic lice
- Syphilis
- Bacterial vaginosis (BV)
- Hepatitis
- HIV
- Thrush (candidiasis)
- Trichomoniasis
The below are not STIs but they can be triggered by an STI:
- Cystitis
- Proctitis
- Urethritis
- Vaginitis
