Institut für Internationale Gesundheit Berlin of the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin is the largest tropical medicine facility in Germany in terms of the number of people and travelers to be treated. The institute deals with the diagnosis and treatment of tropical diseases, travel medicine advice and vaccinations as well as research and teaching in tropical medicine and international/global health.

The main Research areas of the Institute are malaria, helminthiases, diabetes, HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases in developing countries. On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) the Institute of International Healh conducts partnership projects with clinics in Rwanda, Sierra Leone and Uganda. Globally, the Institute advises and supports institutions dealing with neglected tropical diseases.

Das Institut für Internationale Gesundheit Berlin der Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin ist die nach Zahl der zu behandelnden Personen und Reisenden größte tropenmedizinische Einrichtung in Deutschland. Das Institut beschäftigt sich mit der Diagnostik und Behandlung von Tropenkrankheiten, reisemedizinischer Beratung und Impfungen sowie mit Forschung und Lehre in Tropenmedizin und International/Global Health.

Die Tropenmedizinische Forschung des Instituts umfasst verschiedene Projekte u.a. in den Bereichen Malaria, Wurmerkrankungen, Diabetes, HIV/AIDS und anderen Infenktionskrankheiten in Entwicklungsländern. Im Auftrag des Bundesministeriums für Wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ) führt das Institut Partnerschaftsprojekte mit Kliniken in Ruanda, Sierra Leone und Uganda durch. Weltweit berät und unterstützt das Institut Einrichtungen, die sich mit Tropenerkrankungen befassen.
